Detective Dies After Falling From Third-Floor Balcony in Bangkok

Bangkok: A detective from the Metropolitan Police Division 5 died after falling from a third-floor balcony while attempting to move a mattress. The incident occurred at a commercial building in the Khlong Maha Nak Subdistrict, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District. According to Thai News Agency, at 8:30 PM yesterday, police at Phlapphla Chai 1 Police Station received a report about the fall. The deceased, identified as Police Sergeant Major Siripong, 31, was a squad leader in the Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Division 5. He was found in front of the building, lying face-up in a pool of blood, wearing black trousers and shirtless. A preliminary autopsy indicated that Sergeant Major Siripong suffered a fractured skull with significant bleeding, confirming the fall from the third floor. Initial investigations revealed that the detective was performing housework on the third floor when he ventured onto the awning and tried to throw a mattress down. He lost his grip on the mattress, which led to his fatal fall. Investigators have instructed volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to transport Siripong's body to the Forensic Institute of the Police Hospital for a detailed autopsy. Relatives have been contacted to collect the body for religious ceremonies.
