Bangkok: Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, has addressed recent allegations made on social media by Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a candidate for MP on the party-list of the People's Party. The allegations questioned whether Pipat used over 500,000 baht from social security contributions for first-class air travel. Although the post was later edited to clarify that Pipat never flew first class, only business class, and highlighted the lack of clarity from previous ministers, Pipat responded by emphasizing the importance of verifying information before dissemination.
According to Thai News Agency, Pipat, a leading figure in the Bhumjaithai Party overseeing the southern region, took to his personal Facebook page to clarify the situation. In his post, he stated that for various meetings, he always opts for business class travel and has consistently adhered to the principle of using the provident fund economically. He stressed that this fund, which belongs to insured persons, must be utilized for the benefit of all.
Pipat expressed gratitude to the citizens and various pages that supported him, stating that their encouragement and trust empower him to continue his work. He also highlighted the need for responsible information dissemination, urging the public to verify facts and avoid spreading unverified claims. Pipat reaffirmed his commitment to performing his duties with honesty and integrity, focusing on the benefit of the people.
