Deputy Minister of Interior Urges Public to Verify Before Donating to Foundations

Bangkok:Mr. Jetseth Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Interior, has issued a call for the public to verify information before making donations to foundations. He emphasized the importance of having a proper distribution network to prevent donated funds from remaining unsold and at risk of misuse.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jetseth highlighted the role of rescue workers, who are on the ground performing operations and are not involved in managing or allocating the funds. He expressed concern over the confusion and discouragement among rescue workers due to recent incidents, urging donors to clearly specify their intentions. This clarity would facilitate verification and ensure that donations reach their intended targets, he explained.

Mr. Jetseth warned that soliciting donations beyond one's means without an adequate network may result in unused funds, potentially leading to unintended asset purchases. He stressed the importance of aligning fund usage with donor intentions, using the example of donations for flood victims in Prachinburi province. He reassured the public that many Thai foundations operate transparently and encouraged careful verification before transferring donations.

Addressing concerns about impersonation and fund mismanagement, Mr. Jetseth assured rescue workers that any suspicions or unfair treatment could be reported to the Department of Provincial Administration for investigation. He emphasized the essential role of rescue workers in Thailand, noting their mobility and ability to access various areas quickly. To protect and verify their work, the Ministry requires rescue workers to report to incident commanders, providing records of personnel, areas assisted, and resources used.

Moreover, Mr. Jetseth mentioned that registered officials, particularly those using government applications, might receive assistance with expenses, wages, and vehicle or fuel costs from the Department of Provincial Administration.
