Bangkok: "Worrasit" continues to push forward with the issue of cheating in local government exams, accelerating the filling of vacant positions and bringing genuine test-takers into the system.
According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, is making strides in addressing the local government exam cheating scandal. He emphasized that the resolution goes beyond simply removing fraudulent names from lists. Instead, there is an urgent need to fill vacant positions with legitimate test-takers to restore public confidence in the system.
Mr. Worasit stated that after legal proceedings for those implicated in the scandal are concluded, the Ministry of Interior will focus on managing the vacant positions. The ministry aims to ensure that those who genuinely qualify based on their actual scores are integrated into the system. He highlighted that merely removing names is not a sufficient resolution, as it is crucial to address who will occupy the vacancies and how the public will benefit from the resolution of this issue.
Furthermore, Mr. Worasit emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to established criteria and scoring systems to prevent future allegations and to maintain transparency throughout the process. He stated that solutions should not introduce new problems. Therefore, the recruitment, ranking, and allocation of positions must be executed in a clear, verifiable, and fair manner. If the process unfolds as intended, eligible candidates will have the chance to enter the local government system, and local administrative organizations will benefit from qualified personnel performing their duties.
Mr. Worasit also pointed out that the issue extends beyond the examination itself to include the trustworthiness of those who will serve the public. He outlined a three-pronged approach moving forward: advancing the legal case, filling positions, and reforming the system. These steps aim to ensure a concrete resolution, addressing those involved in the scandal and integrating genuine passers into the local government framework.
