Bangkok: Deputy Inspector General of Police emphasizes that the case of Nattawut pushing and assaulting Somchai will be handled based on the evidence. The Deputy Inspector General of Police visited Thonglor Police Station to inspect the case, emphasizing that the investigation will proceed based on evidence regarding the incident of pushing and assaulting a person, and that bail will be granted as per their rights.
According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan, Deputy Inspector General of the National Police and spokesperson for the National Police Office, arrived at Thonglor Police Station to reveal the progress in the case of Mr. Nattawut Wongniem, a former lawyer, who assaulted Mr. Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, former Election Commissioner, in front of Thonglor Police Station. He stated that the police have proceeded according to legal procedures.
Initially, it is understood that the victim has filed a police report against the person who pushed her, with charges including assault, public defamation, and property damage. The police are currently proceeding based on the available evidence.
The police confirm that they are handling the incident strictly. Upon discovery of the incident, those involved were summoned for legal proceedings. As for the suspect's denial, that is their right.
Police officers have a duty to strictly enforce the law. When an incident occurs, it is necessary to summon those involved to proceed according to procedure. Regarding applications for temporary release or bail, this is a fundamental right of the accused, and the investigating officer will exercise discretion in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

Regarding the incident where the perpetrator waited knowing that the other party would come to file a police report, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong stated that since the police knew that both sides would confront each other, the commanding officers would have to consider preventative measures to avoid a confrontation in a government building, especially at Thonglor Police Station.
When asked by reporters whether the defendant's connection to a national-level politician would be seen as indicating powerful backing, he stated that it was irrelevant, and that anyone guilty must be prosecuted.
The suspect has posted bail with a cash security of 45,000 baht.
Police Colonel Rattathanon Ekthitikulpat, Superintendent of Thonglor Police Station, revealed that Mr. Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, former Election Commission (EC) member, has filed a complaint against Mr. Nattawut Wongniem on two counts: assault causing bodily harm and property damage exceeding 30,000 baht. Mr. Nattawut has requested bail using 40,000 baht in cash as collateral. The investigating officers are currently reviewing the bail application, as it is the suspect's right. Even if the victim opposes bail, the police believe it can be granted. They emphasized that granting bail is not intended to favor anyone, as Mr. Nattawut is still at large and there is no indication he will flee. Mr. Nattawut has now calmed down, and the police have cautioned him to exercise maturity and that such behavior in a government setting is inappropriate.
