Department of Land Transport Confirms Lifetime Driver’s Licenses Remain Valid

Bangkok:The Department of Land Transport has reassured the public that lifetime driver's licenses have not been revoked, addressing concerns and misinformation circulating on social media.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, clarified that there are no current plans to cancel lifetime driver's licenses. The confusion arose due to new requirements for driver's license applicants aged 55 and above, who must undergo a physical fitness test to ensure road safety.

The department emphasized that the inaccurate information circulating about the revocation of lifetime licenses is unfounded. Holders of lifetime driver's licenses can continue to use them without any changes to their legal rights. The physical fitness test requirement applies only to individuals over 55 seeking a new driver's license, in line with academic guidelines for road safety.

The Department of Land Transport remains focused on promoting sustainable road safety measures for the public.
