Bangkok: The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) pays homage to His Majesty King Rama IX, the revered artist and role model for creating valuable copyrighted works, while encouraging the new generation to utilize the DIP's online copyright notification service.
According to Thai News Agency, the tribute marks the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on December 5, 2025. The Department acknowledges His Majesty's grace and wisdom, particularly in his role as "the Supreme Artist," whose creations in music, painting, photography, and other creative fields have brought lasting happiness and inspiration to the Thai people.
Mrs. Aromon Sapphathaweetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, highlighted His Majesty's emphasis on intellectual property. King Bhumibol Adulyadej inspired new generations of artists, inventors, and creators to appreciate creativity and the importance of protecting one's intellectual property rights. His Majesty's contributions span over 90 works, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Notably, his royal compositions such as "Sang Thian" and "Yam Yen Klai Rung" have gained international recognition. His literary works, including "Phra Mahajanaka," emphasize perseverance, while his other artworks underscore the importance of creative protection and continuous innovation.
Ms. Aromon emphasized that the Department of Intellectual Property encourages artists, creators, and entrepreneurs to value intellectual property, fostering creativity as a sustainable economic asset. The Department's electronic copyright notification service has been enhanced to streamline the process, making it accessible and efficient in the digital age. Users can submit copyright notifications via the Department's website or the DIP e-Service application, saving time and costs. The system allows for real-time status tracking and provides electronic copyright notification letters upon approval.
Since its launch on June 20, 2025, the online system has processed 6,196 copyright notification requests, representing 96.7% of all submissions. This reflects creators' awareness of copyright's importance and their potential to monetize creative works. While copyright protection is automatic by law, filing a notification with the Department serves as primary evidence in disputes and facilitates easier access for those seeking permission to use copyrighted works.
The Department provides the online notification service free of charge and offers further assistance through its hotline. Interested parties are encouraged to use the system at www.ipthailand.go.th or through the DIP e-Service application.
