Bangkok: This afternoon, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment plans to inspect the site and demolish structures on Nui Beach, returning the land to the Nakorn Kerd National Forest Reserve. This follows a Supreme Court ruling in 2014 revoking the land title deed (Nor Sor 3) for Nui Beach, which was deemed illegally issued. However, the land continues to be occupied, and there have been complaints about the collection of tolls for access.
According to Thai News Agency, the planned demolition is a significant step in the enforcement of the 2014 Supreme Court decision. The ruling had identified the land title deed for Nui Beach as illegally issued, necessitating its revocation. Despite the legal decision, unauthorized occupation has persisted on the beach, raising concerns over the ongoing access tolls imposed on visitors.
The Minister's inspection is intended to ensure compliance with the court's order and to facilitate the restoration of the area to its rightful status as part of the Nakorn Kerd National Forest Reserve. This action is expected to address the issues related to unauthorized land use and the commercial exploitation of the access to Nui Beach.
