Democrat Party Campaigns in Bangkok Highlighting Achievable Policies

Bangkok: The Democrat Party (DP) is vigorously campaigning in Bangkok, emphasizing that all its policies are achievable. Dr. Kardee Leowpairoj, the party's prime minister candidate and deputy leader, led the campaign efforts in Constituency 8, accompanied by Mr. Ongart Klamphaiboon, Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, and Bangkok MP candidate No. 14, Mr. Rapeepatt Sumethochotimetha. The campaign trail also included a visit to Prachaniwet 1 Market and support for Bangkok MP candidate No. 6, Ms. Pimchanok Kaocharoen, in Constituency 12.

According to Thai News Agency, the Democrat Party's policies, particularly the unified ticket for the BTS Skytrain and buses with fares based on distance, are designed to alleviate the financial burden on Bangkok residents. Dr. Kardee emphasized that while transportation costs are unavoidable, implementing cost-effective systems is crucial. The proposed fare system would start at 5 baht, with a maximum of 30 baht, aiming to make commuting convenient and affordable.

Mr. Sakoltee reiterated the party's commitment to sustainability with policies that can be maintained over the long term. He highlighted that the party's executives and policy team ensure all proposals are realistic and minimally impact the government budget. Constituency 8, a former stronghold of the Democrat Party, is a competitive area where the party and Pheu Thai Party have historically alternated victories.

In Chatuchak district, traditionally a Democrat Party stronghold, Mr. Sakoltee expressed optimism about regaining public trust. He noted that after years of campaigning, the party received positive feedback from voters who had previously switched allegiances but now intend to support the Democrat Party.

Regarding seat predictions in Bangkok, Mr. Sakoltee conveyed the party leader's view that while they hope for around 10 seats, the dynamic nature of Bangkok's political landscape leaves room for uncertainty. Chatuchak district, in particular, is known for significant electoral swings, with no party holding permanent sway, reflecting the area's responsiveness to prevailing trends.
