Prachuap Khiri Khan, Call center gangs are spreading non-stop. Claiming to be the Comptroller General's Department Tricking a retired forestry official into downloading an app to receive extra compensation. Before draining all the money from the account
Yesterday (22 Dec. 2023) Mr. Sompong, a former forest ranger. Traveled to report the incident to the police at Kui Buri Police Station, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. that they were tricked by a gang of scammers into downloading an app from a link, tricking them into believing it was an app from the Comptroller General's Department in order to pay compensation after retirement Then the money was completely drained from the account.
Mr. Sompong told reporters that on December 21, he received a phone call from a line. Claimed to be the finance department from the National Park Service. Asked about the department after retiring. Is there any special compensation offered? Then it was informed that Now the department has a project to pay compensation in the form of disbursements to a lump sum of nearly 60,000 baht, but the information must be provided to the Comptroller General's Department first. Not long after that, another call came in, saying it was from the Pension Division. Said there was money missing and he would pay it. But you must submit a request by clicking on the link. Then enter various information after following the various steps that the system prompts. After a while, an amount of 17,000 baht was transferred into the account as the first amount, with another amount being transferred later. Make yourself believe that it is probably true.
During that time, he also contacted and called via Line to transfer money from the bank's credit card into his own Krungthai bank account. At that time, he saw that there was 17,000 baht in the account and did not have any idea. So he pressed to transfer another 33,000 baht from the credit card into the account, but because transferring money from the credit card took some time. During that time, he was surprised that everything was quiet and there was no notification of the remaining amount of 47,000 baht. So he checked the balance from the bank's application. and found that the remaining balance was 0 baht, making him aware that his data must have been hacked So he called the bank and asked to temporarily suspend the use of his account. Then check from the bank app and find that your total balance which had 29,410 baht of his own money transferred to Mr. Chaiyamongkol's account As for the amount to be transferred from the credit card, The balance has not yet been credited to the account. This allows the fraudsters to get only the original amount of money that was in the account.
So he gathered evidence. Met with investigators at Kui Buri Police Station to file a complaint against the call center gang. The investigating officer informed that he would send the matter to him. 'Technological Crime Investigation Police Headquarters' or 'Cyber ??Police Headquarters' continue operations.
Mr. Sompong also cautions everyone that if you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be from various agencies and if you are told to download any app, do not believe it and absolutely follow it. Otherwise, you might be deceived yourself.
