Commerce to meet 500 Japanese businessmen to promote bilateral trade

The Commerce Ministry will host a 3-day meeting between Thai and Japanese businessmen next week to promote bilateral trade.

The meeting expects to see over 1,200 business people of both countries involving five major industries attending.

According to Commerce Minister Mrs Apiradi Tantraporn, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (MITI) Mr Hiroshige Seko will lead a big delegation of 500 business people to visit Thailand between September 11-13 and take part in the meeting with their Thai counterparts.

She said the event will see more than 1,200 Thai and Japanese business people from five industries attending.

The five industries included automobile, electricity and electronic, agricultural, food and health, logistic service and industrial estate and financial institution.

She said the trade meeting would be a good chance to expand the marketing channels, trade and investment opportunity, promoting Thailand as sourcing centre in ASEAN for the Japanese business people.

This would also help to promote more Japanese investment in Thailand.

Bilateral trade during the first seven months of this year valued totally more than 30 billion US dollars or 5.24 per cent growth.

Thailand's exports to Japan valued US$ 12.5 billion or 8.12% growth while imports from Japan worth US$18.1 billion or 3.33% growth.
