CIB and AIS Unveil Initiative to Combat Call Center Fraudsters.

Bangkok: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and AIS have launched a new initiative titled 'Warm-hearted Notification, Cut the Call of the Thief' aimed at tackling fraudulent phone activities. The service, a collaboration between CIB and AIS, was announced by Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridet and Mr. Prathana Leelapanang, CEO of AIS General Customer Group. The initiative focuses on suppressing call center fraud by facilitating immediate reporting of suspicious phone numbers. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop highlighted the impact of cyber threats, particularly from call center gangs, which have resulted in significant public distress and financial losses. The CIB has intensified efforts to dismantle these networks by cutting off their communications, including telephone and internet signals. In partnership with AIS, the bureau uses tracking and monitoring systems to identify and apprehend offenders, with a special channel for AIS customers to report suspicious numbers. Despite previous successes, statistics from the past year indicate 300,000 cybercrimes with damages exceeding 340 billion baht, including 20,000 cases linked to call center gangs, causing 3-4 billion baht in losses. The CIB aims to reduce such cases by 30-40% within six months. Mr. Prathana emphasized AIS's commitment to customer security, detailing efforts across three areas: collaboration with law enforcement and government agencies, development of technology tools like the AIS Spam Report Center, and enhancement of digital skills through the "Aun Jai Cyber" project. These efforts are designed to integrate fully with all sectors to combat cyber threats and scams effectively. Mr. Prathana also reiterated AIS's dedication to supporting CIB and other government agencies in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting offenders to the fullest extent of the law. Additionally, AIS has underlined the importance of customer safety by enhancing SIM card security with 5GSIM technology, which encrypts user identification numbers to provi de a more secure network experience.
