Bangkok: Chulaphan Amornvivat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, dismissed the Bhumjaithai Party's announcement of three prime ministerial candidates, stating that the real contender is Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior. Chulaphan emphasized that the other two candidates need to prove their capabilities in the political arena. He also expressed readiness for Pheu Thai's election campaign set to launch in December, predicting it will be intriguing and impactful.
According to Thai News Agency, Chulaphan commented on the Bhumjaithai Party's strategy, recognizing each party's right to present candidates with non-political images. However, he reiterated his belief that Anutin remains the primary candidate due to his leadership role in Bhumjaithai. Despite efforts to refresh the party's image, Chulaphan suggested that it remains tethered to its traditional identity. He noted that the public would ultimately decide the effectiveness of the other candidates, who must demonstrate their transition from the private sector to politics benefits the populace.
Regarding Pheu Thai's own prime ministerial candidate, Chulaphan indicated that while discussions are ongoing, an official announcement is expected by December. He refrained from specifying whether an outsider or insider would be chosen, urging the public to wait for an exciting revelation. He expressed concern about premature speculation but assured that the announcement would be significant.
Commenting on Bhumjaithai's relocation of its main offices to Chonburi and Suphan Buri ahead of the elections, Chulaphan remarked that such moves are typical during the election season. He emphasized his focus on strengthening Pheu Thai's position, highlighting the introduction of a strong candidate in Kamphaeng Phet. He reiterated his priority on consolidating the party's strengths and achieving electoral success.
