China Sends DNA Identification Team to Help Nepal After Mudslide Death Toll Rises to 1,068

Kathmandu: Yesterday (September 1, 2026), Chinese authorities sent the second aid package to Nepal to support rescue and search efforts for those missing after the mudslide. The death toll has risen to 1,068, with 4,606 still missing.

According to Thai News Agency, this relief effort includes drones, DNA testing equipment and supplies, water filters, and lighting equipment. Five DNA identification experts will also be deployed to assist in identifying the deceased and support search and rescue operations.
