Chiang Rai Woman Arrested at Rayong Polling Station for Fraud Case


Rayong: Police arrested a woman from Chiang Rai at a polling station in Rayong for early voting.



According to Thai News Agency, the Central Investigation Bureau police arrested the woman at a pre-vote polling station after she fled to Rayong province to avoid a fraud case involving over 4 million baht from a village fund. The arrest took place inside a polling station in Rayong’s District 2, Taksin Rayong High School, Mueang District. Officers waited until the suspect finished casting her vote at polling station 26 before apprehending her, presenting the arrest warrant, and informing her of the charges. The suspect surrendered peacefully after being informed of the situation.



This arrest is the result of an investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau. The investigation discovered the suspect, wanted on fraud charges in Chiang Rai Province, had been residing in Rayong Province for over a year. The suspect had registered for advance voting outside her district, indicating she would vote at the polling station in District 2 of Rayong Province. Authorities devised a plan to track and arrest her based on this information.



The initial investigation revealed that the suspect defrauded a village fund of 4 million baht before fleeing. Police initially took her into custody at Rayong City Police Station to record the incident, before transferring her to Chiang Rai Province for prosecution.
