A tense chase ensued in the middle of the night as a drug suppression unit of the Chaiyaphum Provincial Police pursued a modified pickup truck carrying methamphetamine pills before it veered off the road and crashed. Two suspects were arrested along with 400,000 methamphetamine pills.
According to Thai News Agency, a drug suppression operation by the Chaiyaphum Provincial Police, following up on a drug network, involved a relentless pursuit in a pickup truck on Yothathikan Road 2021 in Kut Tum Subdistrict, Mueang Chaiyaphum District, Chaiyaphum Province, in the darkness. Police reinforced their forces to block the suspects from the front and back, until they were finally cornered.
After spotting a Thai man carrying a large package and hiding it by the roadside, acting suspiciously, officers approached to investigate. The man sped away in a pickup truck, but Chaiyaphum Narcotics Suppression Bureau officers pursued him closely for approximately 3 kilometers, apprehending two male suspects. A search of the vehicle revealed 200,000 methamphetamine pills, in addition to the 200,000 pills discarded by the roadside before the escape, bringing the total seized to 400,000 pills.
Both suspects were brought to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau in Chaiyaphum for questioning. They confessed to transporting the drugs to dealers in the interior of the country. The seized drugs included 400,000 methamphetamine pills, valued at approximately 4 million baht. Two assets worth a total of 550,000 baht were also confiscated. They have been handed over to the Chaiyaphum City Police Station for legal proceedings. Further investigation is underway to apprehend those who ordered the operation.
