Bangkok: Chaikasem Nitisiri has stated his willingness to assume the role of Prime Minister if the situation demands, emphasizing his current good health and readiness.
According to Thai News Agency, Chaikasem, who is the third Prime Minister candidate from the Pheu Thai Party, has been the focus of attention following resignation speculations in political circles. Despite previous concerns about his health, recent images of him engaging in a golf session have allayed such fears, showing him to be in robust condition.
During an appearance on the Inside Thailand program aired on Channel 9 MCOT HD, Chaikasem shared, "Now I am strong and everything is fine because the blood clot at the back of my head has completely dissolved. Life is normal, no problems." He further mentioned his recent visit to the doctor, who confirmed his recovery, allowing him to resume activities like golfing with ease.
When questioned about his readiness to take on the Prime Ministership, Chaikasem expressed a preference for others to step up, stating, "It's not necessary to do it. If you can avoid it, let others do it. I've done a lot already." However, he reassured that should the need arise, he is prepared to lead the country, emphasizing that there are many capable individuals from the new generation, but he remains ready if required.
