Chaichanok Urges Correct Constitutional Amendment Process Over Immediate Changes.

Bangkok: "Chaichanok," secretary of Bhumjaithai Party, is not worried that the constitution cannot be amended in time for this government. What is more important is correctness and more than half of the people agree, like MOU 44, which should hold a referendum. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, gave an interview after discussing with the core leaders of the coalition parties about the amendment of the constitution that many parties are worried will not be in time for the upcoming election. Whether it will be in time or not, everyone will drive it to the fullest. It is more important than rushing to make it in time, but the process must be correct. The method is important because it is a matter of law for the entire country. If we just rush to finish it, if there is a mistake, no one will be held responsible. When asked about the delayed constitutional amendment and concerns that it will not be in time for this government, Mr. Chaichanok said that everyone must talk about where the real problems are in developing the country and taking care of the people. If there is clarity, no one will have any objections to rushing to amend the constitution. Currently, everyone is saying to amend, amend everything, and they do not know where to amend. When it is said that Section 112 will not be amended, then where will it be amended? I do not have any objections. That is why the Bhumjaithai Party sees holding a referendum as important. If the public agrees sufficiently, more than half or at least more than half of those who exercise their rights, we will be comfortable no matter which way we go, whether it is this government or the next government, because some issues take longer than one government. If we know that the root cause is that the majority of the people agree and it is beneficial, any government will dare to continue. He gave the example of MOU 44. If there is a referendum and the public agrees by more than 50%, whichever government continues, they will know the mechanisms. We will have to wait and see if everyone still wants to do it for the benefit of the country. Regarding the referendum issue where the Pheu Thai Party does not want to use the criteria of more than 50%, Mr. Chaichanok said that it should be discussed in the committee. He confirmed that all the coalition parties agree that they will not touch Section 112.
