CCSA Investigates Elderly Beggar Speaking Incoherently.

Bangkok: A beggar grandmother has come under investigation by the Center for Accelerated Public Welfare Management (CWWM) after reports surfaced of her speaking incoherently and allegedly escaping from a shelter. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, dispatched the Center to investigate the claims. According to Thai News Agency, the incident began when a concerned citizen reported seeing the elderly woman begging for money to buy medicine near the Mo Chit BTS station. The woman, recorded in a clip, claimed she came from a shelter in Pathum Thani and needed to return by 3:00 p.m. to avoid being locked out. Upon investigation by the CWWM and the Department of Social Development and Welfare (DSW), the 62-year-old woman was found at the location as described. She was informed of her offense under Section 13 of the Begging Control Act B.E. 2559 and was taken to Bang Sue Police Station for processing. Further inquiries by the CCSA revealed inconsistencies in her story. Her origin al residence was traced to Chaiyaphum Province, and her speech differed from the clip provided by the citizen. Despite her claims of staying at a Pathum Thani shelter and needing funds for medical purposes, checks with all shelters under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security turned up no records matching her story. Following her detention under the Begging Control Act, the CCSA team facilitated her transfer to a shelter for the homeless, where plans were made to assist in her rehabilitation and improve her living conditions.
