Cargo Lift Accident in Sathu Pradit Soi 34 Claims One Life

Bangkok:A tragic accident occurred when a lift cable snapped in the Sathu Pradit Soi 34 area, resulting in one fatality and one serious injury.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place at a transportation company in a two-story building. A 47-year-old woman was found dead at the scene, and a 25-year-old man suffered leg injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The accident happened around 800 AM on October 10th, when police from Bang Phongphuang Police Station and Ruam Katanyu Foundation volunteers arrived to investigate. CCTV footage showed that the 25-year-old man was pushing a parcel cart into a freight elevator as the woman took a step inside. The elevator then plummeted from the second floor to the first, resulting in the woman's death and injuring the man.

The lift, designed for goods transport, is not meant for passengers. It had been inspected by engineers recently, with no issues reported. Forensic experts from Chulalongkorn Hospital, along with police and investigators, are examining the scene to understand why the elevator fell despite passing its inspection. Legal action will follow the investigation's findings.
