Calm Prevails at Thai-Cambodian Border Amid Ceasefire Negotiations

Bangkok: The situation along the Thai-Cambodian border remains calm, with no reports of serious clashes overnight. "Thai Khu Fa" has confirmed that the area has been peaceful, and no violent incidents have occurred in any of the seven border provinces since late last night. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that from late Tuesday night until 7:00 a.m. today, there were no reports of violent incidents along the border. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers have been actively inspecting the area to dismantle any remaining explosives. Meanwhile, government agencies, the private sector, and the public are collaboratively supporting and facilitating the civilian population. Furthermore, efforts to reach a lasting ceasefire agreement continue under the General Border Committee (GBC) framework. Last night at 8:30 p.m., local time in Malaysia, Thai and Cambodian secretariats resumed discussions, focusing on closing the gap between each side's stance on several issues. The goal is to reach a consensus on implementing the ceasefire agreement. The government remains hopeful that the ongoing GBC meetings will successfully lead to a lasting ceasefire agreement, ensuring continued peace along the border.
