Beijing:American Gen Z artist Caelan has released a new single, "Sorry Not Sorry," featuring a unique collaboration with Liang Long, a veteran of the Chinese rock scene. The music video for the song presents an interesting twist by incorporating elements of Beijing's street culture and traditional Chinese architecture.
According to Thai News Agency, the project aims to go beyond traditional pop music video formats, with the video set amidst the historic old neighborhoods of Beijing. This setting provides a powerful backdrop, combining Western rap and dance with Chinese rock influences, resulting in a striking fusion of new-generation pop and cultural elements.
One notable scene in the video shows Caelan and Liang Long on a rooftop in Beijing, symbolizing the seamless blend of two generations and cultures. Following the release, Caelan returned to a hutong in Beijing to perform the song for locals, further connecting with the culture and people of the area.
This project is part of an initiative by ORCA (Original Creative Artists), supported by Alibaba, which focuses on creating opportunities for international artists to engage with the Asian entertainment market. The initiative seeks to foster cross-cultural music projects, bringing together artists from different countries to create innovative musical exchanges.
