Uthai thani: A 100-baht lottery ticket at a temple fair in Uthai Thani led to an unexpected windfall for the Kaewan Kasikam family, who won a buffalo worth over 20,000 baht.
According to Thai News Agency, the event took place at Wat Khu Muang (Nong Sakae) in the Nong Phai Subdistrict, Nong Khayang District. The temple fair coincided with the 53rd anniversary of the death of Luang Pho Sod Wajasit, a former esteemed Buddhist monk of the region. The fair was bustling with attendees engaging in various activities, but the highlight was the "Lucky Fish Egg Picking" game. This game was organized to raise funds for the upkeep and development of the temple's religious sites. The grand prize for this game featured two buffaloes, each valued at over 20,000 baht, drawing significant interest from the participants.
The Kaewan Kasikam family, hailing from Ban Pong Keng in the Taluk Du Subdistrict of Thap Than District, traveled nearly 60 kilometers to attend the event. Their win became the talk of the town as they claimed the first buffalo prize. The family expressed their joy and disbelief at winning such a valuable prize from a mere 100-baht lottery ticket. They have decided to keep the buffalo and are committed to taking good care of it. To facilitate its transport, they quickly arranged for a truck to carry the buffalo back to their home in Thap Than District.
