Prachinburi: The body of Private Thanarat was sent back to his hometown with full honors. The Deputy Governor of Prachinburi presided over a Buddhist funeral ceremony in front of the coffin of Private Thanarat, who sacrificed his life in a border clash in Sa Kaeo Province. His body was then transported by helicopter to the Air Force Base 23 in Udon Thani before being handed over to his family for funeral rites in his hometown in Nong Khai Province.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chanathip Khokmani, Deputy Governor of Prachinburi Province, presided over the Buddhist funeral rites for the brave soldier, Private Thanarat Chanprathat, of the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment. Private Thanarat sacrificed his life defending Thailand's sovereignty in the Thai-Cambodian border area of Sa Kaeo Province. He was killed when Cambodian mortar fire struck his Stryker armored vehicle, injuring several soldiers and leading to his death.
A military honor guard, armed with rifles and playing bugles, escorted the body of the fallen soldier as the funeral procession moved to a helicopter. The body then flew to Watthana Nakhon Air Base, Wing 3, Sa Kaeo Province, where it was transferred to a transport aircraft (Air Force Base 295) for onward transport to Air Force Base 23, Udon Thani Province. From there, the body will be handed over to family members for funeral rites in his hometown in Nong Khai Province.
