BOT Spokesman Reveals Law to Balance Power of Board Chairman.

Bangkok: The BOT spokesman revealed that there is a law to balance the power of the board chairman. The list will be announced on November 4. The overall Thai economy in Q3/67 has improved, driven by exports of goods and high growth in government spending. Ms. Chanawadee Chaianan, spokeswoman for the Bank of Thailand (BOT), said that many parties have expressed concern about political interference in the selection of the BOT chairman. She said that this is a way of conveying concern and anxiety to the selection committee, which will meet on November 4. Therefore, we must wait and see what the selection committee considers first to see the outcome. According to Thai News Agency, the position of the Chairman of the BOT is mainly about administration because policy decisions are made by the policy committee under the law. Therefore, the Chairman of the BOT will oversee the overall management and general operations of the BOT more, such as budget, personnel management, reserve management, etc. In terms of the ex isting law and structure, there are checks and balances, and there are clear rules and regulations to a certain extent. The BOT spokesman also revealed that the Thai economy in September 2014 slowed down from the previous month, following merchandise exports and private consumption, while private investment remained stable. However, income from foreign tourists increased, and government spending expanded, both regular and investment expenses. The general inflation rate increased from the previous month in all categories, with the energy category increasing due to the low base effect of the previous year, which was supported by government assistance measures. The fresh food category increased in line with vegetable prices. The current account surplus decreased in line with the services, income, and transfers balance, which increased in deficit from both tourism income and business profit and dividend remittances. Meanwhile, the trade surplus was close to the previous month, with the number of foreign tourists at 2.5 million, down from the previous month, following the number of Chinese tourists who delayed their trips.
