Bombings and Arson Attacks Target Multiple Gas Stations in Southern Thailand

Yala: Bombings and arson attacks targeted four gas stations in Yala province, causing property damage but no injuries, as reported by the Special Operations Division of the Yala Provincial Police. The incidents occurred today at approximately 1:14 AM, when an unknown group and number of perpetrators carried out attacks on several gas stations and convenience stores across the provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat.

According to Thai News Agency, the attacks in Yala province struck four specific locations. These included a PTT gas station in the Bannangdama area of Kabang district, the front of another PTT station in Bannangsta district, inside a PTT station on the Yala-Raman road in Budee subdistrict, Mueang district, and at a PTT station on Highway 418 (Pattani-Yala) heading towards Yala city in Thasap subdistrict, Mueang district. While the incidents caused significant property damage, there are no initial reports of injuries or fatalities.

In response to the attacks, security personnel swiftly brought the situation under control, secured the affected areas, and are awaiting forensic investigators to examine the scenes in detail to determine the cause and gather evidence. In the meantime, relevant agencies have increased security measures in surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.

Initial investigations suggest that the attack at the PTT gas station on Highway 418 was carried out by a young man who arrived on a motorcycle. After firing shots into the air and chasing away the gas station attendant, he planted three bombs at the fuel pumps, which led to explosions and a fire that completely destroyed the station.

Yala Governor Kongsakul Chantharat has visited the sites of the attacks, instructing officials to ensure the area's security. Authorities have vowed to expedite investigations to apprehend those responsible and are committed to resolving the situation promptly, with updates on the progress expected in due course.
