Sam Phran: "Big Tao" has extended an invitation to Phra Wachirapanyaporn, also known as Phra Aor, for further questioning as a witness in an ongoing investigation. Phra Aor, who serves as the secretary of the 14th Sangha Region and assistant abbot of Wat Rai Khing, was questioned for over five hours by Pol. Lt. Col. Charoonkiat Pankaew, deputy commander of the Central Investigation Bureau. The investigation focuses on financial matters related to the temple.
According to Thai News Agency, Phra Aor, who was closely associated with the former Phra Chao Khun Yaem, managed significant documents concerning temple expenses. During the investigation, police confiscated computers and documents for further scrutiny. It was clarified that Phra Aor is not the grandson of the former Phra Chao Khun Yaem.
Pol. Col. Charoonkiat revealed existing conflicts between the former Phra Yaem and Ms. Aranyawan, although details remain undisclosed. The focus of the investigation is on tracing financial transactions and examining individuals involved, as Wat Rai Khing holds numerous temple accounts. Some of these accounts have been closed, and the previously discovered 300 million baht in funds is believed to have increased, though the exact amount remains undetermined.
The investigation also aims to understand the process of money withdrawal from temple accounts, where individuals were appointed by the former Phra Chao Khun Yaem, with each transaction requiring his signature.
Pol. Lt. Col. Charoonkiat confirmed the Central Investigation Bureau, Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) are operating based on concrete evidence, including forensic findings. While no irregularities have been identified, the Bureau is taking time to ensure thoroughness. A committee may be formed to further explore the financial trail due to the expanding scope of individuals involved.
Regarding Mr. Ekaphon, a former temple assistant with an arrest warrant for organizing gambling, the Central Investigation Police are coordinating with Cyber Police for his potential detention and prosecution.
Additionally, a safe located in the former Phra Chao Khun Yaem's kuti remains unopened. Plans are underway to transport it to the Royal Police Cadet Academy in Sam Phran, where coordination with other agencies will facilitate its opening.
