Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party's war room has been activated as they closely monitor the Constitutional Court's ruling on the high-profile audio clip case.
According to Thai News Agency, the Bhumjaithai Party spokesperson revealed that their current efforts are focused on observing the unfolding situation, akin to the approach taken by other political parties. The spokesperson emphasized that, if the court's decision is favorable, the party will proceed with proposals under Sections 151-152.
Reporters described a tense atmosphere at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, where Anutin Charnvirakul, the party leader, along with executive committee members and MPs, gathered to stay informed on the verdict concerning the audio recording involving Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Samdech Hun Sen. The outcome of this verdict is expected to significantly influence the party's strategic direction, irrespective of the court's decision on Paethongtarn Shinawatra's position.
Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, Ubon Ratchathani MP and spokesperson for the Bhumjaithai Party, clarified that her presence at the party headquarters was intended purely for observation, a stance shared by other parties as well. When questioned about the party's potential response to an unfavorable court ruling against the Prime Minister, Ms. Nan stressed the importance of allowing time for thorough discussions before speculating on future actions. She reiterated the party's commitment to monitoring the situation, aligning with the cautious approach taken by other political entities.
Addressing speculations about Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul's recent social interactions, which included dining with General Prawit Wongsuwan of the Palang Pracharath Party, Ms. Nan downplayed any political implications. She explained that Mr. Anutin is known to have a wide circle of acquaintances, and such meetings should not be seen as extraordinary. His active presence on social media, where he frequently shares his activities, further underscores the normalcy of these interactions.
Ms. Nan concluded by noting the Bhumjaithai Party's readiness to continue its legislative responsibilities should the Constitutional Court's ruling support the Prime Minister. She highlighted the party's preparedness to submit a no-confidence motion in accordance with Articles 151 and 152 of the Constitution if necessary, reaffirming their commitment to the legislative process.
