Bangkok: The Bhumjaithai Party, led by campaign assistant Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas and other key party figures, emphasized their commitment to fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups during a meeting with businesspeople at Mit Aree restaurant. The event aimed to support Mr. Noraset Thianprasit, the Bhumjaithai-Din Daeng MP candidate.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekniti clarified that the party's policies are not merely about financial handouts but rather about providing skills training and market access to help Thai startups connect with larger businesses. He highlighted initiatives like "Made in Thailand" and "SME Plus" as beneficial strategies for economic growth. The party's focus is on creating opportunities rather than providing direct financial assistance.
The party also addressed the recent revision of Thailand's GDP figures, which have improved from a projected 0.3% to 1.8% for the fourth quarter, with an annual average of 2.2%. Mr. Ekniti noted that these figures indicate an economic recovery, and the party plans to enhance skills and opportunities across various professions. He mentioned the potential return of the 'Half-Price Plus' scheme, which would involve training in online sales to reduce living costs and stimulate the economy.
Mr. Ekniti stressed the importance of not only talking about intentions but acting on them. He discussed the necessity of a fund to support startups, acknowledging the risks involved and the potential for financial loss due to corruption. The fund aims to enhance competitiveness, recognizing the need for governmental and private sector collaboration.
In promoting the Thai gaming industry, Mr. Ekniti highlighted the skills of Thai developers and designers. He proposed establishing a fund to support this industry, incorporating cultural elements like tourism into games. Discussions with potential investors revealed challenges within the current systems, which Mr. Ekniti plans to address by setting up an investor support center and revising legislation.
Later, Mr. Ekniti and Bhumjaithai Party leaders engaged with vendors and shoppers at the Ministry of Finance's market. The lively atmosphere reflected public support for the continuation of the "Half-Price Plus" co-payment scheme, which had previously stimulated economic activity.
