ECT joins hands with 25 agencies, preparing to inspect qualifications - prohibited characteristics of MP candidates preparing for elections
The Office of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has organized a committee meeting to support the examination of qualifications and prohibited characteristics of candidates and personnel involved in the election process. Election or voting in the referendum No. 1/2023, in which the committee is representatives from various agencies and personnel of the Office of the Election Commission. appointed according to the Election Commission's Order No. 44/2563 on the Appointment of a Committee to Support the Examination of Qualifications and Prohibited Characteristics of Candidates and Personnel involved in the Election Process. Election or voting in a referendum, which Mr. Sawang Boonmee, secretary-general of the Election Commission, chaired the meeting.
As for the agencies participating in the examination of the qualifications of eligible candidates and prohibited characteristics from exercising the right to run for election, it consists of 25 agencies: 1. The Constitutional Court 2. The Court of Justice 3. Administrative Courts 4. Senate 5. House of Representatives 6. Cabinet 7. Office of the Ombudsman 8. National Anti-Corruption Commission 9. Anti-Money Laundering Commission 10. Anti-Narcotics Commission 11. Civil Service Commission 12. Anti-Corruption Commission 13. Ministry of Education 14. Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation 15. Royal Thai Police 16. Department of Local Administration 17. Revenue Department 18. Department of Business Development 19. Department of Probation 20 . Legal Execution Department 21. Department of Corrections 22. Fine Arts Department 23. Department of Provincial Administration 24. National Intelligence Agency 25. Thailand Securities Depository Company Limited
This meeting was aimed at creating a common understanding of the roles and responsibilities of coordinating, supporting and assisting the Election Commission of Thailand. In addition, it is preparing for the implementation of the time frame for reviewing the qualifications of candidates and the prohibited characteristics of candidates for election as members of the House of Representatives. Including the qualifications of candidates for election under section 41 and characteristics prohibited from exercising the right to stand for election under section 42 of the Organic Act on Election of Members of the House of Representatives B.E. 2561 and amendments to (No. 2) B.E. 2023, in order to prepare for coordination and further work together.
