Bangkok Sees Over 87% Voter Turnout in Advance Voting Reflecting Strong Democratic Engagement

Bangkok: Bangkok has reported a vibrant advance voting process, boasting an impressive voter turnout of over 87%, indicating a robust level of democratic engagement among its citizens. Mr. Narong Ruangsri, Permanent Secretary of Bangkok, disclosed that advance voting was conducted at 50 central polling stations across the city, with the process running smoothly and efficiently, thanks to the efforts of election officials.

According to Thai News Agency, of the 845,853 voters registered for advance voting outside their home districts, 740,966 participated, resulting in an 87.60% turnout. Meanwhile, 2,650 out of 2,747 voters registered for advance voting within their districts cast their ballots, accounting for a 96.47% turnout. This high participation rate underscores the significant democratic awareness and involvement of Bangkok's residents.

The top five central polling stations with the highest advance voting turnout outside their constituencies included the Nong Khaem District Office, Samphanthawong District Office, Phra Nakhon District Office parking lot, Siam Technological College in Bangkok Yai District, and Ratchathewi District Office, all registering turnout percentages above 90%.

Furthermore, notable turnout figures were recorded in various other locations, such as Tawanna Bangkapi, Chandrakasem Rajabhat University in Chatuchak District, and the temporary parking lot at Lat Krabang District Office. These figures ranged from 85.08% to 88.53%, reflecting a strong voter presence across different districts.

All advance voting envelopes from voters outside their registered districts have been successfully transferred to Thailand Post Co., Ltd. These will be delivered to respective polling districts for vote counting on Sunday, February 8, 2026, coinciding with the general election.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has expressed gratitude to all voters, officials, and related agencies whose contributions ensured the smooth conduct of the voting process. The administration has also been monitoring public feedback on social media, noting predominantly positive responses regarding the convenience and efficiency of the process. However, there were suggestions for improvements in transportation and traffic management, which the BMA aims to address for a more efficient election day.
