Bangkok Roads to Close for IMF-World Bank Summit

Bangkok:Motorists are being advised by the Bangkok Metropolitan Police to avoid Ratchadaphisek Road between Asok Montri Intersection and Rama IV Intersection on October 15-16. This is due to traffic closures implemented for security reasons during the IMF-World Bank 2026 global summit.

According to Thai News Agency, the closures are necessary as high-level representatives from various countries will attend the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings 2026, which Thailand is hosting. The police anticipate potential gatherings of protesters in the vicinity, prompting the need for these measures to ensure safety for the public and summit participants. Alternative routes suggested include Rama IV Road, Sukhumvit Road, Witthayu Road, and Sarasin Road. The use of BTS/MRT trains is encouraged, with additional travel time advised.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Police have assured the public that they will manage traffic to minimize disruptions and restore normal road conditions as quickly as possible. They apologize for any inconvenience caused by these necessary security measures and appreciate the public's cooperation. For further traffic information, the public can contact 1197.
