Bangkok: The final day of the 'Job Fair for People with Disabilities' took place today in Bangkok, with the government planning to extend the initiative with a roadshow in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 12-13. According to Thai News Agency, the government, through the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), is committed to empowering individuals with disabilities by transforming them from recipients of assistance to active contributors to the economy. This effort is supported by partner networks and is encapsulated in the large-scale event, 'Job and Market Fair: Creating Jobs and Careers for People with Disabilities 2026,' under the theme 'Creative Skills, Unlimited Opportunities.'
The government emphasizes the importance of adapting the workforce to meet the demands of the digital era. Consequently, the event focuses on enhancing future skills through upskilling and reskilling initiatives, including AI applications, digital content creation, online marketing, e-commerce, and modern business management. The aim is to create new work avenues, such as remote and freelance opportunities, to help people with disabilities overcome travel and physical limitations.
The Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office highlighted that the central event concludes today at Building B, Government Complex, Chaeng Wattana. The event features over 428 booths offering job matching, exhibitions of innovations and technologies for people with disabilities, a market for goods and services, welfare rights consultations, and workshops providing practical vocational skills training.
The regional events will continue to other provinces, with a job creation and career fair slated for Nakhon Ratchasima Province on September 12-13, 2026, at MCC Hall, The Mall Nakhon Ratchasima. The program intends to accommodate over 12,000 participants nationwide, both onsite and online.
Captain Patthadarasmi noted that the government aims to shift societal perceptions, showing that disability does not limit potential. With appropriate support in terms of skills and opportunities, individuals with disabilities can become entrepreneurs and highly skilled workers contributing to the Thai economy. She encourages employers, businesses, and the public to engage in the event to create opportunities and further develop the potential of people with disabilities, leading to stable income.
