Prachinburi:The Department of Livestock Development has initiated a large-scale operation to manage the aftermath of flash floods that resulted in the drowning of approximately 2,000 pigs on a farm in Prachinburi province. Director-General Chaiwat Yothakol highlighted the deployment of personnel and heavy machinery for this task.
According to Thai News Agency, emergency teams are collaborating with disaster prevention officials to transport the carcasses using backhoes and flat-bottom boats due to the high water levels. The teams are also spraying disinfectants in the area to prevent disease outbreaks and contamination.
Authorities aim to remove about 1,400 carcasses by Tuesday, with the entire operation expected to be completed by Wednesday, contingent on stable weather conditions. In addition to clearing the carcasses, efforts are underway to evacuate surviving livestock and assess farm damage. This evaluation will facilitate the processing of financial compensation and disaster relief, following the regulations of the Ministry of Finance.
