Auntie Wan Denies Smuggling Allegations After Lengthy Questioning

Khlong luek: 'Auntie Wan,' a Cambodian woman, has opened up following nearly four hours of questioning, confirming that she never assisted anyone in entering the country illegally. Her demeanor shifted, and she apologized to both the officers and the media after a public disruption at the Khlong Luek checkpoint. According to Thai News Agency, reporters noted that the Khlong Luek Police Station's investigation team questioned Ms. Wannaree Ohm, known as 'Auntie Wan,' aged 45, from 1:20 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., totaling almost four hours. Following the interrogation, officers escorted Aunt Wan out of the room, where her demeanor had noticeably altered. Previously tough, she appeared calm and composed, showing no signs of anger towards the officers or reporters. When questioned by the news team regarding her history of begging in Thailand, Aunt Wan candidly admitted it had been a long time since she engaged in such activities. She mentioned that she now washes dishes in restaurants, earning 300 baht daily, contradict ing some rumors suggesting she only received 50 baht. Regarding accusations of facilitating illegal entry for Cambodians, Aunt Wan unequivocally denied the allegations, asserting she had never been involved in such activities. She expressed her intention to return to Cambodia once the matter is resolved and conveyed an apology to Thai officials and the media for the previous day's disturbance. The police continue to investigate the situation and pursue legal action after discovering Aunt Wan lacked proper immigration documents. They have taken her to Khlong Luek Police Station, with plans to present her in court today.
