An arrest warrant is imminent for the suspect in the fatal shooting of a sedan on the expressway near the Pracha Chuen toll booth, on charges of intentional homicide. The luxury van involved in the incident was found abandoned at a hotel in Nakhon Pathom. Currently, no possibilities have been ruled out.
According to Thai News Agency, in the fatal shooting on the Si Ratch Expressway near the Prachachuen toll booth, police are continuing to gather evidence and are preparing to request an arrest warrant from the court for intentional homicide. The vehicle used in the incident, a Vellfire, was recently found abandoned at a hotel in Nakhon Pathom province. Meanwhile, all possibilities are not being ruled out, even though witnesses indicate the motive stemmed from a disagreement while driving, and the suspect has a prior arrest warrant for attempted murder issued in 2024.
Later, at 6:30 PM, Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul Sonthinern, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2 (MPD 2), revealed the progress of the investigation, stating that they are currently pursuing the suspect. Currently, they have summoned witnesses connected to the suspect prior to the incident for questioning and are gathering relevant evidence to request an arrest warrant from the court on charges of intentional homicide. The latest update is that the vehicle used in the crime has been found abandoned at a hotel in Nakhon Pathom province. The vehicle is being brought to the police station, and forensic officers are being contacted to examine and collect relevant evidence.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul added that officers have not ruled out any possibilities because, during his inspection of the crime scene this morning, he questioned relevant witnesses and found that there was dissatisfaction while driving. However, other possibilities have not been ruled out. Initially, there was no indication that the perpetrator and the victim had any prior relationship.
According to initial witness statements, they had arranged to meet up with four friends, including the perpetrator, in Nonthaburi province. After dropping off a friend, the incident occurred while they were driving back. They encountered each other near a toll booth when a Toyota Vellfire suddenly changed lanes, attempting to veer right, while the other vehicle, traveling straight, had to swerve to the left, essentially cutting them off. When they stopped to pay the toll at the same booth in nearby lanes, they rolled down their windows and looked at each other before the incident happened.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Kiatikul said that police are in the process of tracking down and arresting the perpetrators. Regarding the arrest warrant, they are currently gathering evidence to request the court issue it. The perpetrators previously had an outstanding arrest warrant for attempted murder issued in Chonburi province in 2024.
