Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has expressed his lack of awareness regarding Deputy Prime Minister Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao’s recent announcement concerning the appointment of a new governor in Chiang Rai. During a policy presentation at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University’s auditorium, Thammanat indicated that the new governor must have the ability to take direct orders from the supervising deputy prime minister to effectively serve the people of Chiang Rai.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin, who also leads the Bhumjaithai Party, addressed these remarks, noting that he has not yet been informed of such developments. He questioned the existence of any directive, asking, “Is there such a thing?” His comments suggest a disconnect or lack of communication regarding the proposed criteria for the new governor’s appointment.
Furthermore, when probed about whether Lt. Col. Thammanat mentioned a timeline for this administrative change, Anutin responded by stating tha
t there is currently no timeline for the transfer. Instead, he emphasized that the focus remains solely on initiatives aimed at helping the people. This statement underscores the absence of any immediate plans for the governor’s replacement and highlights a prioritization of public service efforts over administrative shifts.
