Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has clarified that a message from Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim was a proposal to halt provocations, not an agreement for a ceasefire. Anutin emphasized Thailand's unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty.
According to Thai News Agency, the clarification came via a message sent to Anutin by Anwar on December 13, 2025. Anwar's message read, "Dear PM Anutin, I merely said - my suggestion to cease any provocations from 10 pm. I didn't say that both parties have agreed." This statement underscored that there was no plan or agreement by the Thai government to initiate a ceasefire with its enemies as of 10:00 PM the previous night.
Anutin reinforced that Thailand is steadfast in its determination to preserve, protect, and defend the integrity of its land and people. The message from Anwar, translated as a proposal to end provocations rather than a mutual ceasefire agreement, confirms Thailand's position against ceasing fire under the current circumstances.
