Anutin Chairs Police Commission Meeting to Revise Appointment Criteria

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul chaired the 4th Police Commission meeting of 2026, discussing off-schedule police appointments, promoting non-commissioned officers to commissioned positions, and revising police appointment criteria to pave the way for promotions in investigative roles. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, in his capacity as Chairman of the Police Commission (K.Tr.), presided over the 4th/2026 K.Tr. meeting at the Sriyanon Meeting Room, Building 1, 2nd Floor, Royal Thai Police Headquarters. Police General Kittirat Panpetch, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, along with Deputy Commissioners General, the Inspector General of the Royal Thai Police, and other commissioners, attended the meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, among the interesting agenda items at this meeting are Agenda Item 4, concerning three matters: Item 1: Amendments to the criteria and methods for evaluating knowledge and abilities to be used in considering the appointment of police officers in the investigative field who hold concurrent positions and are able to adjust their rank independently to higher positions, in accordance with the National Police Act B.E. 2565 (2022). Item 2: Appointments of police officers outside the annual appointment cycle, which involves considering personnel in special cases outside the regular cycle to align with the mission and needs of the agency. Item 3: Selection and appointment of non-commissioned police officers to be promoted to commissioned officer ranks in special cases as determined by the Police Commission.
