Bangkok: The "Anutin 2 Cabinet" is poised for submission to His Majesty the King on March 30, following the successful qualification of 35 nominees.
According to Thai News Agency, the Pheu Thai party nominated three candidates, with Mr. Nikorn Somklang chosen over Ms. Khattiya Sawasdiphol and Mr. Wisut Chainarun for a ministerial position.
Reports from the Bhumjaithai Party revealed that on March 27, the qualifications of potential ministers for the "Anutin 2" administration were finalized. Although Ms. Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol faced qualification issues, the Pheu Thai Party proposed Mr. Nikorn Somklang, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, and Ms. Khattiya Sawasdiphol as alternatives. All three were cleared, with Mr. Nikorn ultimately selected as the Minister of Social Development and Human Security.
On March 30, the Prime Minister plans a final meeting with verification agencies to ensure all nominees meet the necessary criteria. Provided there are no further complications, the Prime Minister will submit the full list of 35 names for royal assent. The list includes prominent figures such as Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with other key positions being filled by distinguished individuals across various ministries.
The prospective cabinet members span a wide range of portfolios, reflecting the government's strategic appointments in areas like finance, foreign affairs, commerce, and education. Key nominations include Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and Ms. Supajee Suthamphan as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, among others. The appointments aim to address critical sectors and bolster the country's administrative leadership.
