Bangkok: Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP for the Pheu Thai Party, has issued a caution to the blue-shirt senators amidst the ongoing investigation by the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) into alleged collusion in the selection of senators. Anusorn emphasized that if the senators have done nothing wrong, they should not be afraid and should respect the investigation process.
According to Thai News Agency, Anusorn addressed the situation following a press conference led by Mr. Mongkol Surassajja, the president of the Senate, who, along with the blue-shirt senators, responded to the DSI's decision to treat the case as a special investigation. Anusorn remarked that fear can lead to deterioration and stressed that participating in the investigation process is a right. He highlighted that nearly 50,000 individuals applied through the self-selection system to become one of the 200 senators, with some candidates allegedly involved in collusive activities. Observations have suggested that up to 1,200 candidates may have been part of this process, involving activities such as staying in the same location, wearing coordinated shirts, and sharing transport facilities.
Anusorn insists that this investigation is not intended to undermine the Senate, as many senators remain unaffected. He reassured that if the investigation finds no wrongdoing, the blue-shirt senators and others will continue their duties as usual. He emphasized the importance of transparency and inspection in addressing any uncertainties that may concern society.
"You have become senators, you must be ready to be investigated, you must be ready to prove yourself, not someone who can't touch anything. You must understand and respect the rights of the petitioner, honor and trust the investigation process. If you have done nothing wrong, you don't have to be afraid," Anusorn concluded.
