Anticipation Builds for “Half-Price Plus Phase 2” Scheme Submission

Bangkok: The "Half-Price Plus Phase 2" scheme is anticipated to be submitted to the Cabinet next week. The government spokesperson disclosed that the "Half-Price Plus Phase 2" and the "Quick Big Win measures" aimed at enhancing savings opportunities and financial security for the public were not tabled during today's Cabinet meeting. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, explained that the delay was due to the need for further finalization of the details. Both measures are expected to be discussed by the Cabinet in the forthcoming week. Mr. Siripong also mentioned that the new round of registration for the state welfare card is projected to commence in early January 2026. The Prime Minister has raised concerns about the income criteria, noting complaints that some individuals with incomes below the 100,000 baht threshold still possess significantly valuable assets. Consequently, the Prime Minister has tasked the Ministry of Finance with c onducting a comprehensive review of these criteria to ensure fairness in the survey and registration process.
