Phuket: Another bomb was discovered at Surin Beach in Phuket Province, prompting the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to swiftly neutralize the threat. Authorities are now conducting an urgent search for additional bomb sites following confessions from suspects who admitted to placing explosive devices at two distinct locations on Surin Beach.
According to Thai News Agency, police arrested individuals responsible for planting bombs at popular tourist spots in both Phuket and Krabi. The suspects confessed to placing explosive devices at two sites on Surin Beach, specifically in the Cherngtalay Subdistrict, Thalang District, near a construction area. Currently, a coordinated effort by the EOD team of Provincial Police Region 8, the Investigation Team of Region 8, the Investigation Team of Phuket Provincial Police, along with officers from Cherngtalay Police Station and local administrative organizations, is underway to inspect Surin Beach. Using specialized equipment and metal detectors, the team identified suspicious objects buried under a tree near a restroom, in an area undergoing landscape improvements by the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning. The EOD officers successfully destroyed the device.
Authorities remain vigilant as they continue their search for other potential bomb sites. The confession by the arrested suspects indicated the presence of suspicious objects in two separate locations, necessitating thorough and immediate investigation to ensure public safety.
