Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026 Set to Boost Sports Tourism in Thailand

Hua hin: The government invites the public to the 'Amazing Muay Thai Festival 2026' to promote sports tourism and elevate Muay Thai to an international level. The event will be held from February 4-7, 2026, at Rajabhakti Park and is expected to generate over 200 million baht in revenue. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, the Royal Thai Army, the Sports Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Culture, the Department of Public Relations, Rajabhat Muban Chom Bueng University, and the World Boxing Council of Muay Thai (WBC), will organize the festival. This initiative is part of the World Wai Kru Muay Thai Project, aiming to showcase the unique characteristics of Muay Thai training and disseminate the art and culture of Muay Thai to an international audience. The event is projected to attract over 18,000 participants, generating over 214 mil lion baht in economic revenue. This year's festival operates under the concept of the "Ultimate Muay Thai Experience," focusing on delivering a travel experience through sports and adventure events. It promotes Muay Thai as a martial art and cultural heritage, positioning it as a tourism product to draw in both Thai and international tourists. The initiative also seeks to elevate Muay Thai sports tourism to an internationally recognized standard. Thailand boasts over 5,000 Muay Thai camps and gyms nationwide, ready to accommodate tourists eager to learn Muay Thai. The government supports this through a Muay Thai visa (Non-Immigrant Visa, code ED) for foreign tourists wishing to train at certified camps, allowing them to stay and experience tourism in Thailand for up to 90 days. The festival promises a wide array of activities, including a homage ceremony to seven revered Thai kings and King Sanphet VIII (King Phra Chao Suea), and an initiation ceremony by Muay Thai masters. A performance titled 'The Drums R esound in the Sky, Proclaiming the Power of Muay Thai,' featuring over 1,500 performers, will include lights, sound, and special effects, culminating in a fireworks display. February 6th has been designated 'Muay Thai Day' to honor King Sanphet VIII and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
