About 2.9 Billion Baht Set Aside to Strengthen Local Economy in 10 Provinces

The Cabinet has approved for the third time the proposal to develop and strengthen the local economy, as part of the Government's loan decree for COVID-19 relief purposes.

The proposal involves a budget of 2,909 million baht to be used for 1,766 projects in 10 provinces, namely Phrae, Phitsanulok, Tak, Shkhothai, Roi Et, Surin, Amnat Charoen, Ayutthaya, Prachin Buri, and Sa Kaeo.

These projects will help generate employment for 29,765 people. At least 8,354 families, with more than 3.5 million people, will benefit from the projects, which will improve the standards and quality of products.

The projects will also increase occupational skills for local people and develop infrastructure to accommodate economic revival in various communities and villages.

The proposal to develop and strengthen the local economy will cover four major target areas: product, tourism, and service development; agricultural value creation and efficiency enhancement; labor skill promotion and development; and community infrastructure development.

The Cabinet has instructed the Ministry of Interior to carry out the projects in accordance with the recommendations offered by the Bureau of the Budget.
