Abhisit Vejjajiva Set to Return as Democrat Party Leader


Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, the former leader of the Democrat Party, has announced his intention to return to the party’s leadership. A special general meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow at the Miracle Grand Hotel to elect a new party leader and executive committee.



According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit himself posted on Facebook about his return to the Democrat Party, expressing his willingness to serve the people once again. His post included a message stating, “Volunteering to serve the people as a child of Mother Earth once again.” The announcement comes ahead of the crucial general meeting set for tomorrow.



The post shared by Abhisit also featured several notable figures, including Mr. Sakolthee Phattiyakul, former deputy governor of Bangkok; Mr. Korn Chatikavanij, former leader of the Chart Pattanakla Party; and Mr. Phongsakorn Kwanmuang, son of Police General Aswin Kwanmuang, a former Democrat Party MP candidate. Other individuals mentioned in the post were Ms. Ratklao Intawong Suwannakiri, former deputy spokesperson for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party; M.L. Apimongkol Sonakul, former deputy spokesperson for the Democrat Party; Mr. Juri Numkaew, a TikTok star; Ms. Kardee Leowpairoj; Virapong Prapha, the Thai Trade Representative; and Mr. Amporn Pinasa, secretary-general of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC).
