“Abhisit Fever” Surges in Nakhon Si Thammarat as Polls Show Strong Support for Democrat Party Leader

Nakhon si thammarat: "Abhisit fever" is sweeping through Nakhon Si Thammarat as recent poll results show Abhisit Vejjajiva leading by a substantial margin, with over half of the population endorsing him as their preferred Prime Minister. This widespread support places him significantly ahead of other contenders in the political landscape.

According to Thai News Agency, the poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), commonly referred to as "NIDA Poll," highlights the political climate as the country approaches the 2026 election. The survey, titled "The 2026 Election in Nakhon Si Thammarat," was carried out from January 19-21, 2026, and identified this province as a crucial stronghold in the South. The results showed that 51.45% of respondents support Abhisit Vejjajiva to continue as Prime Minister, while 51.08% favor a constituency candidate from the Democrat Party.

Mr. Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, the spokesperson for the Democrat Party, commented on this shift in political dynamics, emphasizing the party's growing popularity in the southern region. He noted that this trend is evident both in statistical data and the vibrant atmosphere during campaign events. The significant electoral support suggests a robust confidence in Abhisit Vejjajiva's leadership and the Democrat Party's ideology.

The phenomenon of "Abhisit Fever" has been observed throughout Abhisit Vejjajiva's campaign visits in various regions, including the Northeast and North, and most recently in Chumphon and Surat Thani provinces. The campaign trails have been marked by enthusiastic crowds, with individuals of all ages showing support and eagerness to interact with the former Prime Minister. These interactions have been characterized by warm embraces and expressions of hope for Vejjajiva's steadfast leadership.

Mr. Pongsakorn attributes the resurgence of the Democrat Party's appeal to its credible experience, honest image, and clear communication of effective policies. This combination is reshaping public perception, positioning the Democrat Party as a "safe choice" and a viable "solution" to the national challenges currently faced.

He further emphasized that the recent poll results affirm the public's trust in the Democrat Party's commitment to its principles and policies. The party's approach has fostered genuine faith among the electorate, reinforcing its ideological stance and dedication to truth.

Looking ahead, the Democrat Party plans to continue its campaign across several southern provinces, including Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Trang, and Phatthalung, culminating in a major rally on February 6th at One Bangkok.
