Samut sakhon: Phra Maha Thiwakorn, the abbot of Wat Yai Chom Prasat, has been ordained. He has agreed to disrobe in connection with 'Ms. Golf' after disappearing for a week, claiming it was for peace of mind, but still denies committing Parajika.
According to Thai News Agency, Phra Maha Thiwakorn Deeprai, the abbot of Wat Yai Chom Prasat in Samut Sakhon Province, was involved in a financial controversy linked to Ms. Golf. His disappearance from the temple, along with the temple's disciples and a car, was first noted on the evening of July 10.
The situation gained further attention when a recent image surfaced on Facebook, showing Phra Ratchawacharasakarakhani, the provincial abbot of Samut Sakhon, performing the disrobing ceremony for Phra Maha Thiwakorn. This event took place at Luang Pho To Park on July 17, 2025, at 8:41 p.m. In his statement, Maha Thiwakorn emphasized that the disrobing was for the peace of mind of the Sangha, although he continues to deny any breach of Parajika.
Maha Thiwakorn, aged 59, served as a Pali teacher and held a Dhamma education degree. He passed significant religious exams, including the Dhamma echelon exam in 1989 and the Pali 9 exam in 2001. In 2017, he received a doctorate degree from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.
