Sa kaeo: Soldiers arrested 30 Thais who were abandoned at the border in Sa Kaeo Province. They confessed to scanning their faces on the Cambodian side before returning home. They suspect they were mule accounts. Once their duty was over, they were released to cross back to Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, rangers from the 1206th Ranger Company, along with soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, Royal Guard, were patrolling a sensitive area along the Thai-Cambodian border when they encountered a large group of suspicious individuals walking through a sugarcane field near Ban Noen Sombun Village in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. Thirty Thai nationals were present, including 20 men and 10 women.
Initial searches revealed 24 ID cards, but six individuals lacked identification documents. They confessed to scanning their faces on the Cambodian side before returning home. It's suspected these individuals are mules, who, after their duty ends, are released by call center gangs at the border for them to cross back to Thailand by natural routes. Officers have handed them over to investigators at Khlong Nam Sai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
